Kevin Garnett Says Bronny James Has A Little Kobe Bryant In Him

While Bronny is not an NBA-level player to some league scouts, his basketball IQ, emotional maturity, and overall composure on the court were enough to convince Garnett that the kid deserves a chance.

"If I am a team bro, I would actually take a chance on that," Garnett said. "Because greatness runs through bro's veins. You got to know at some point, he's going to have a growth spurt and it's going to click."

At just 6'1", Bronny is already playing at a major disadvantage being so undersized and it's arguably the biggest reason that teams are so skeptical to pick him up this summer. Even so, his work ethic, dedication, and awareness of the game are on par with some of the very best in the league and Garnett recognizes those attributes as the same ones that used to drive Kobe Bryant back in the day.

Of course, Bronny's game is just not on the level that Kobe's was. While Bryant was looking like a top-tier star at 17, James is still on the fence about this basketball future and even if he does get drafted this summer, he may have to spend some time in the G-League before he gets a real run in the NBA.

As the son of basketball royalty, it's no surprise that Bronny has become one of the biggest storylines of the summer. Despite averaging a modest 4.8 points per game at USC, he's drawing interest from teams across the league who are interested in the possibility of joining him with his dad.

According to Bronny himself, however, his main goal is not to play alongside his pops. Instead, he's simply trying to establish his own identity as a player and help his team when at all costs.

Bronny, just like Kobe, has an unrelenting competitive spirit and he plays the game the right way every single time. What he may lack in height, strength, and speed, he makes up for in effort and smarts on the court and it's the perfect recipe for success on a competitive, win-now team.

While comparisons to Kobe Bryant may be a step too far, Bronny's relentless attitude and fearless approach have impressed many across the league and it might just be enough to get his name called on draft night. What happens after that is anyone's guess but the pressure will be intense for the young baller to live up to his family name and validate all of the positive things spoken on his NBA potential.
